Before you sign on with a confidential secure document destruction service in or around the Melbourne area, it’s always important to research not just the services that the company offers but also the company itself. Having complete trust in the secure document destruction professionals that you’re hired means learning both about the techniques that they use and the type of people you’re dealing with. Shred on Site, for example, is proud to be AAA Certified. This has a number of unique implications regarding the types of paper shredding that we can perform.

What is AAA Certification?

AAA certification is a quality assurance program developed by NAID, or the National Association for Information Destruction. NAID itself is an international trade association for companies that provide sensitive document shredding and other all important document destruction services to customers. From the beginning, NAID was designed to not only help educate its members on best practices for the secure destruction of confidential information, but also to provide a code of ethics that would be adhered to by all companies that are members moving forward. Shred on Site is a proud member of NAID and we have been with them for just over a year. Only a few companies in Victoria have been able to achieve this NAID AAA Certification.

What Does AAA Certification Really Mean?

By being NAID certified you receive double the security. Firstly documents are shredded on site. Your legal liability ends when the documents are shredded so your legal liability ends at your doorstep rather than an offsite facility. Also shredded paper must be pulped – it cannot be given away. So we take it to recycling plant where it is pulped. At its core, AAA Certification is all about maintaining compliance and security in terms of companies that provide secure document destruction services.

How Does One Get AAA Certification?

In order to obtain AAA Certification, member companies in NAID must subject themselves to regular onsite audits by trained and accredited professionals in the information security industry. Representatives from NAID will actually come to a job site and observe the practices that these companies are using to help make sure that no issues are present. Random, unannounced audits are also required to keep the accountability level high.

A large part of AAA Certification also requires regulatory alignment. Member companies like Shred on Site will have to submit written documentation regarding the policies and procedures that they’re employing for things like employee training, how they deal with an incident on site, regulatory compliance and more.

AAA Certification also means that the people who actually work for a mobile shredding company like Shred on Site have been thoroughly vetted by a team of professionals before they’re allowed to work in the field. Not only is employee background screening conducted, but also training occurs with regards to operational safety, confidentiality agreements, access controls and other important factors that play a huge role in the job that they do on a daily basis for companies just like yours.
